River Dyfi walk
Following the report of a Great Grey Shrike in the Dyfi valley a couple of days ago I took a walk along the riverbank and adjoining fields from Dyfi bridge towards Hafodty this morning I didn't get the shrike but the walk wasn't unproductive. I saw a few teal, mallard, and a goosander (female) on the river, a snipe, a grey heron, lapwing, a buzzard and a kite which had all its tail feathers missing and was struggling to fly. The best bird of all though was a rather skulking water rail which came out of a frozen ditch no doubt startled by my approach it then trotted away 'roadrunner' style with its tail cocked in the air!
