... bird news from Montgomeryshire, Wales ...
Interesting Brian. The Canada Geese are most likely from Lake Windermere. The RSPCA/Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust have marked some birds there to better understand where the geese come from and why. If you would like to email me some crops of the colour ring numbers I would be happy to submit the ring numbers and confirm the origin of the birds (reporting the birds will also help the study project too of course). Thanks
Also Brian, as with most metal BTO bird rings, they are nearly impossible to read unless the bird is in the hand. The colour rings allow the birds to be identified without the need to recapture them.
A nice mixed bag there Brian.
Many thanks. Think I should have photographed the third bird!
Brian has sent me his pics so I'll submit the ring details to the BTO and report back where the birds have come from. If anyone has pictures of the 3rd Canada Goose (or any other ringed birds) then I will be happy to pursue ringing details with the BTO.
