Just a reminder that next Wednesday, 19th November, sees the welcome return of Jim
Almond, an excellent speaker who will be presenting his talk entitled ‘The
Birds of Shropshire’ to the MWT Bird Group.
Jim is a popular
and entertaining speaker, with a lifelong passion for both nature and
photography, so birding has enabled him to combine the two hobbies to good
effect! His motto 'never birding without my camera' enables him to capture
unforgettable moments in the world of birds, not only on his home patch of
Shropshire, but all over the UK and beyond.
He keeps a
County list every year and aims to see at least 160 species (with as many as
possible photographed!) His talk will include highlights of the past few years,
including quite a few rarities and some new records for the County! It will
highlight the main birdwatching areas, the best times to go and what might be
found there. Shropshire is certainly not one of the best Counties for migrants
and rarities but undoubtedly Jim will be providing a few surprises. To date, with
a Shropshire life-list of 226 birds, he still manages to add one or two new species
every year!
All are
welcome to attend the talk, which will be held at Welshpool Methodist Hall on Wednesday 19th
November, at 7.30pm. £2 to include refreshments and a warm welcome.
