I have been watching the small, widely spread-out colony of Lesser Black-backed Gulls (with a few pairs of Herring Gulls among them) between the railway and Henfaes Lane in Welshpool. They nest on the low roofs of various industrial buildings, where the downy chicks are very well camouflaged. I would be very interested to know if other towns in the county have either of the large gulls breeding on roofs. Newtown? Machynlleth? Perhaps even Llanidloes? Any info gratefully received.
