New species for the county?

Well maybe not! This white-headed chaffinch has been seen regularly in the garden over the last few days. He also shows signs of leucism down the flanks and on the primaries.

He is attacked by other chaffinches quite often - a common occurrence for leucistic birds. It's an ornithologist's dream however as he can be studied without having to ring, paint or tag him.

    neat - have a similar bird appears occasionally in our garden in Crew Green tho as yet he's not posed for me!
