Waxwing @ Welshpool

( via Kevin Painter) First sighting of Waxwing this year, (9.50am) Close to home as well, the male Waxwing was perched oin the top of a small fruiting crabapple tree at the bottom of the garden (Burgess Croft, Red Bank Welshpool). I'd been watching Chaffinchs for some time , flying in and out of the crabapple to the feeders when i noticed him. I watched it for three or four min's untill in one of those strong gusts of wind weve been having he took off heading towards the town centre direction. Unfortuneatly that was the last i saw of him.

    Well done Kevin, you never know what can turn up.Is this the first sighting of Waxwing locally this season?
