Whooper Swan @ Caersws/Llyn Mawr

The 8 whooper swan were present at Caersws this morning, feeding alongside 4 mute swan. Also 2 goosander and a little grebe on the river. At 13:20 the whoopers flew North West down the Carno valley and turned up on Llun Du, the lake next to Llyn Mawr. Goldeneye was another bird of note seen.
Normally I would expect to find both whoopers and goldeneye on Llyn Mawr as this is the lake at Bwlch y Garreg they seem to prefer, unfortunately today, there were 3 anglers blatantly poaching on this MWT property causing plenty of disturbance. Needless to say, I had words and they left, hopefully the wildfowl will stick around!

  1. that's outrageous Chris - perhaps we need to beef up signs at the entrance?

  2. Chris - whereabouts on the river at Caersws? Near the bridge?

  3. They were further downstream near Plas Maldwyn.

Re. Anglers at Llyn Mawr, there is a pretty obvious sign by the boardwalk - which I saw the anglers use to access the sight.
