Blackcap

There was a male blackcap in a bush behind the library in Machynlleth this afternoon fluffing its feathers out trying to trap some warmth and wishing no doubt that it had joined its relatives in Africa this winter! Coming through Forge on the way home I noted a low flying raptor zooming up the Uwchygarreg road I think it was a sparrowhawk but it could well have been a hen merlin I'm not sure.
