Bittern at Dolydd Hafren

The Bittern showed well this morning for about half an hour, approx 11am, at the pond to the rear of the second hide and on the bank.It looked healthy although a few spratts were thrown into the field in case it helped.

Also seen were approx 42 Curlew,4 Greensandpiper,2 Greylag,Canada Geese,Wigeon,Teal,1 Kestrel,Heron,2 Little Grebe, Siskin,Shelduck,Lapwing and Reed Bunting.

A rather flooded Coed-y-dinas produced 1 Male Goosander,Teal,1 Cormorant,Tufted, Canada, and Moorhen all at the rear of lake or on big island.

  1. no show for the bittern for the rest of the day - so need get back there at first light tomorrow I think! Great pic and the kestrel has turned out well given the distance - after you left had M & F Sparrowhawk and peregrine with a couple of jays thrown in for good measure! The bittern quest continues ........
