Another good day for birding. shown by the number of people present this morning when Brian P, and myself arrived there. A white fronted goose flew in front of us as we approached the car park and watched it disappear up river.Birds sighted were :- 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Oystercatchers, 2 Goosanders, 4 Heron, 6 Curlew, 4 Pied wagtails, Canada Geese (not counted ), Mallard (nc), Black Headed Gulls (nc), 1 Cormorant, 16 Chaffinches, 2 Chiffchaff, (4 heard), 80+ Linnetts, 12 Reed Buntings, 6 Buzzards (two of which were observed mating in the top of one of the larger trees), Carrion Crow (nc), Jackdaw (nc), 12 Wood Pigeon, 2 Pheasants, 2 Mute Swans, 6 Teal,and sand Martins almost to numerous to count, Five large flocks feeding and running along the river heading down stream, in excess of 200 per flock with many more staying in the area.
A quick visit to LlcyD on the way back, Hav'nt seen it so quite for some time , not evan one Black Headed Gull on show. But we did sight one lesser spotted Mark Wilson, Displaying well????
