Waxwings

After Mark and Phil left (sorry!), the Waxwing descended to the pools of water for a drink and a wash.  I didn't think they could get closer, but they did, almost inside minimum focus distance.

Sadly some Hungarian berry pickers showed up.  A big thank you to the bird ringer (apologies I didn't catch your name) who talked to them whilst I phoned the police; who weren't overly interested unless the situation got out of hand.  The berry pickers eventually left, only getting two trees at the far right side of the car park.  Beware Hungarian's brandishing large sticks and nets!

(This picture is uncropped just to show how close they got)

  4. Hi Edward, great photos. Sorry your day was interrupted by berry pickers, this is a criminal offence and the college have declined permission. Did you get their car registration? If so, can you post details in a message here or pass it on to Montgomery Wildlife trust or me via www.chriswallbank.com ?

  5. I wasn't thinking straight yesterday and didn't get the reg. I seem to remember them driving a blue estate car and there being 3 males and a female.
