WANTED - bird surveyors

Fancy taking part in a Breeding Bird Survey on a Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve?

MWT is looking for volunteers to undertake these surveys on our behalf. The methodology is very similar to the BBS run by the BTO, the main differences being that the surveyor follows a transect, rather than two routes through a square and the results are recorded straight on to an aerial photo.

Surveyors need to be willing to make two visits; one April to mid May and one mid May to June. You also need to make an early start, as ideally, you start between 6am and 7am, but definitely no later than 9am.

We appreciate that this is short notice and that many birders will already by committed to BTO BBS squares, but if anyone does feel they could help, it would be great if they could get in touch asap. If people are interested in helping out with surveys, but can’t commit at this late stage, then they could express an interest for next year or for Wetland Bird Surveys which we also hope to get going.
