Llyn Coed y Dinas Nature Reserve closure

The Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust will be undertaking necessary maintenance work on the hide at Llyn Coed y Dinas Nature Reserve from this Friday, 13th September 2013. As there will be scaffolding up and machinery moving around, we have taken the difficult decision to close the reserve for the duration of the works. Consequently, Llyn Coed Y Dinas will be closed from Friday for up to 2 weeks. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works and will re-open the reserve as soon as the work is complete.

  1. Hopefully one day the MWT will also remember Dolydd Hafren and manage it back to it's full potential also...!

  2. I do not work for MWT, indeed I'm not even a member now (their response on Facebook to the issue of Mink at Pwll Penarth caused me to resign immediately) but I do know they are aware of the issues at Dolydd Hafren. I assume 'hiding behind anonymous' refers to the ponds in front of the hides - if so the plan was to re-excavate them last year but the ground was too wet to get the heavy machinery onto. And bear in mind this is an Environment Agency responsibility not something that MWT discharge. Perhaps it would be best if 'Anonymous' called their office in Welshpool and asked to talk to either Tammy Stretton or Rob Haigh and they would be able to give you the full story. Some may remember that the birding community had some concerns with LCyD last year and posted some (mainly) constructive comments on here - as a result of that we met with MWT staff and discussed the issues, pretty much across the board finding a way forward. Now that's a more productive way of engaging - try it! And how about acknowledging that MWT didn't need to create this post ref the hide closure at LCyD but that it's positive Tammy chose to do so
