Mutes on the Monts Canal

Yesterday Kelvin Jones and I checked most of the Montgomery Canal between Welshpool and Llanymynech for Mute Swan broods. We ringed 15 and missed 3 cygnets. Still a couple of sites to check but for the whole canal from Newtown to Llanymynech I have so far recorded two pairs without cygnets then broods of 2,2,4,4,5,6,6 and 6. If anyone sees a brood of swans on the canal without rings I'd be very glad to hear. Also saw a few Kingfishers and a surprising number of Moorhens.
