Cuckoo on the Wern

Last Sunday Steve heard a cuckoo behind our house. I was out at the time, and needless to say it didn't call again that day. Since then we have been away for a few days, only returning today, but as we walked around the Wern  this afternoon we heard it calling on several occasions. This is the first time for many years that we have heard it locally, although it was a regular visitor when we moved here over 30 years ago. What a delight to have it here again.
2 more highlights of the day - a pair of curlew on the Wern, and a pair of spotted flycatchers nesting in the garden.
It's good to be home!
