River Severn Custodians

A request for help with surveying birds on the River Severn-

Do you know your birds?  If so, we need your help.  The River Severn Custodians has taken it upon themselves to protect, improve, learn and monitor the patch of the Severn between Mochdre Brook and Penarth Weir.  Check out our web site if you want to know more about what we do. Our latest project for 2015 is:

We would like to run a survey for a full year to take in the changes in bird life as they pass through, come for the nesting season, etc.  We would design the experiment roughly along the lines of BTO surveys so each participant would have a small patch and would go out on a regular basis (approximately once a month, but at least a couple of times during each season) and record the birds they see and hear.  Our resident experts, Tilde and Chris would be available to help with training and setting up the survey.

Please get in touch with us at the email below if you are able to help with this survey.  We can use all the reinforcements we can get as many of us are not bird savvy and we would like to start it as soon as possible so we can include the summer residents.
