Owl news from the Wern - good and bad

Over the last couple of weeks, we have had sightings of both little and barn owls on the Wern - good news in as much as it's good to know they're around, but as both birds were dead on the roadside it's a sad picture overall. We used to see and hear little owls frequently when we moved here 35 years ago, but this was our first 'sighting' for many years now. We do very occasionally see a live barn owl in the area, and are now hoping that we may perhaps see both species again on the Wern one of these happy days.

    Sad news indeed Sue. I believe Littles are declining nationally. We hear tawnys frequently though.
