Wern highlights

Heard our first singing chiffchaff by the Clay Pits this morning, and another at Llanymynech Rocks. But this week's highlights have been a  skylark singing daily on the Wern, and a group of anything up to 40 lapwings each day on a fairly recently ploughed wet field - really good to see a farmer who is not ploughing in the autumn for winter wheat etc. We just keep our fingers crossed that the birds' wonderful tumbling display flights might be a good sign of possible breeding this year. We live in hope.
