The star cast this morning was Wood Warbler, Redstart, Pied Flycatcher and Tree Pipit. Supporting cast of Garden Warbler, Common Whitethroat and many Willow Warblers. No Cuckoo today, but individuals heard on 28 April and 6 May. The Wood Warbler - first reported by Mark Sulway on 1 May - was in a territory often used in past years on the south slope, in mixed beech and oak. While I watched for 15 minutes, it sang constantly and stayed in one sycamore - feeding between phrases. Perhaps it preferred the sycamore since it was the only tree in full leaf, attracting more insects?

Great to hear the Wood Warbler's back Simon - what a treat. Let's hope it's joined by a mate.
