Unusual diet for a swan?

I was fascinated to watch the feeding behaviour of a  juvenile swan this morning on the canal. It was plucking sloes from an overhanging blackthorn bush, then apparently dunking them in the water before eating them. It did this repeatedly for at least 5 minutes as I watched - something I'd never seen before.


The ring-necked parakeet is still around, and seems to be quite capable of holding its own against the corvids which mob it fairly frequently.

    Thanks Kev. Maybe you've seen this sort of behaviour before but it was new to me and quite unexpected.
