A dark headed Blue Tit

A Blue Tit with melanism (i.e. abnormal dark-coloured pigment in the feathers) was seen by Wendy V yesterday in the Newtown area. The bird is very similar to the one at Trewern in January 2015 (see Monts County Report 2015)

    Just tried comparing with web picture of a blue tit - so the white is black, blue is muted and the yellow is darker? - it does look so exotic - many thanks for posting.
