Having rarely seen more than a couple of siskins in the garden over a number of years, we've been surprised this winter to see numbers increasing, and today we reached what for us was a record - 40+ on the feeders/ground/adjacent tree at the same time. They wouldn't all fit easily onto one photo, but managed to get 16 of them, taken through the window. We haven't been able to find a collective noun for siskins, but Steve suggested a 'flittering', which did seem to match their graceful but energetic movements and aerobatics.
