Fieldfares and redwings

Flocks of about 20 fieldfares and a few redwings are still around on the Wern, feeding in the laneside fields. Am wondering whether they might overlap with the swallows, especially if we have another cold spell. Great to see a pair of curlew, and also a pair of peewits (being mobbed by a crow, and putting up a fantastic aerial retaliation) in the area too - can only hope they might be successful breeders this year.

    Nice record, Sue. Still a Brambling in the garden this morning, and ringed a male Blackcap yesterday. As it was on the garden feeder, I suspect it was an overwintering bird, rather than an early migrant from the south?

    Thanks Chris. Haven't seen a blackcap all winter, but we still have a brambling too, and half dozen or so siskins.
