Jack Snipe - Montgomery

I had to do a double take when I looked out the kitchen window yesterday lunchtime when I saw this Jack Snipe taking shelter next to our wheelie bin. At first it had its back to me and though it was a funny looking Blackbird, then it turned around and saw it was a Snipe, and then it started bobbing, a Jack Snipe! I've never seen one before and then there is one right outside the window, couldn't believe my luck. The video was taken through the kitchen window and the pictures were taken from lying down behind my car.

  1. Fantastic Edd - what a surprise. It's great to be able to see the video footage - well done. We've never seen one in the flesh, but would love to. Hope its bobbing and changing 'standing leg' helped it generate at least a little warmth.

  2. Wonderful footage, and the definition of serendipity. Well done.
Everything is struggling to survive in the present conditions.

  4. These photos are stunning, Edd and the video really brought a smile to my face; looks like he finally got in to the groove and hit the dance floor! So jealous!
