An afternoon stroll around the fields and woods between the Ceri Ridgeway and the A489 produced some good numbers, although the quality was lacking.
3 Red Kite and 6 Buzzard were present with individuals in most fields. Shooting on the ridgeway flushed up a flock of 220 Woodpigeon which headed up the valley towards Sarn. Highlights in the woods were 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker and 28 Goldfinch.
A large roost of what sounded like Starlings turned out to be a huge mixed thrush flock in a small woodland nr Pentrenant. They fed in the field and gathered in the bordering trees in approximate numbers of 140 Redwing, 30 Fieldfare and 25 Starling.
A pre roost feeding flock of 54 Pied Wagtails gathered in a field behind Pentreheyling, whilst 160 mixed Gulls flew NE towards Churchstoke, presumably heading to a roost somewhere. Approximate numbes were 30 Black Headed Gulls and 130 Lesser Black Backed/Herring Gulls.
