Lake Vyrnwy 18/05/2019
Spent a few hours at the centenary hide with the Pied Flycatchers showing very well. Plenty of singing and feeding going on. Male Mandarin showed for a couple of minutes before flying off. A Mallard and her six ducklings were feeding on the periphery of the pool when all of a sudden this beautiful Otter burst out of the reeds in pursuit of them. Mum flew off and the Otter chased the ducklings across the water. I couldn't see what happened when the Otter caught up with them, but I couldn't hear them at all in the hours that followed. The picture doesn't do it any justice but it was an incredible thing to watch. Nature in its most raw and visceral.
