Swallows and Redwings on the same day!

For the past 3 weeks or so we've been expecting each day to be the last for watching swallows on the Wern, and over our garden. But each day they've reappeared. Yesterday morning, there were 12 circling, feeding and settling on the wires. This morning there were 6 - late broods perhaps, although at least one bird was an adult sporting long tail streamers, and they were still around this evening. We don't  remember seeing them in October before, and have been wondering whether for the first time we might have winter thrushes and swallows overlapping - which is exactly what happened this afternoon when a dozen redwings flew over the garden! A first for us - but will the swallows have left by tomorrow?
