White Stork GB35 update

Many thanks to the White Stork Project for these details:

GB35 is a male who came to our project from Poland.  He was brought to the UK in early 2018 after sustaining an injury in the wild and rehabilitated at Warsaw Zoo before coming to our satellite site in East Sussex. As he is a rehabilitated wild bird it is difficult to give an accurate age, however it is likely that he was in his first year when injured, making him around 3.5-4 years old.  He was released into the wild early in 2020 from the site in East Sussex.  He was first spotted in Dartford with 2 other storks in mid July, he spent some time in Somerset and Dorset before returning to East Sussex briefly on 1st September.  After a few days in Surrey he was then spotted in Hampshire where he spent about 3 weeks on the Somerley Estate in the New Forest and was first spotted at Mitcham Common on 18th October.  He arrived at Beddington Farmlands, Croydon, on 19th October and remained there until 21st February.  He was then seen in Bretherton, Lancashire, on 2nd March and spent that day exploring the area with 5 sightings coming in that day.  We had a single sighting of a stork in Wrexham on 5th which was likely to have been GB35 due to your confirmed sighting of him in Llanidloes on 6th March.

As he is now coming into his fourth year, a time when they will begin to pair and mate, we would expect him to be making his way back to one of our release sites where we have nesting pairs.
