Two records of Quail have just reached me: one today between the lakes of Glaslyn and Bugeilyn, and the other on 17 June at Old Hall, nr. Llanidloes, (where there was also a Nightjar on 9 June). Quail sometimes nest in Spain or France, then continue migrating north and raise a second brood over here. There may be more just arriving in the county! Typically birds of cornfields, they may land anywhere - such as Glaslyn moorland.
Many thanks to Dee Doody and Michele and Richard Becker, and to everyone else who submits records.
