Woodcock in Middletown

One of our camera traps at home picked up this Woodcock, feeding at midday on 2 Dec (not 12 Feb!) by the stream that forms the border with Shropshire. I hope the video works for all viewers. I am interested in its open bill behaviour. Thanks to Clare for maintaining the cameras and processing the video.

  1. Very nice - 'our' side of the border I assume?? Last one I saw was skulking in the undergrowth at Titchwell a couple of years ago - round here, I cant remember when!

  2. Aargh, I've been caught out. It's on the English bank, but I defy it to have got there without passing through Monts airspace!

  3. Haha - no doubt Simon! Same up on the Ridgeway with birds criss-crossing the border all the time - those Crossbill for example, the puddle is 30 yds on the Welsh side of the border
