Green Woodpecker drumming....

 ....is unusual, both according to the literature and in my experience. Yet, on three successive visits to Middletown Hill, I have seen the bird and heard it drumming in the same dying oak tree. It sounds like a fast, mechanical prrrrr, weaker than the much more commonly heard Great Spotted drumming.
