Lapwings

I saw a flying flock of 14 lapwing at Forge near Machynlleth this afternoon not an uncommon bird you would think but its certainly the first time in 27 years living where I am now near Aberhosan that I've seen them at that location and why do you think that is? Well I can only think that its probably because the farmland where I saw them was free of frost due to being basked in sunshine when adjacent areas not getting any sun were still frost bound. Birds can really turn up where you would not normally encounter them due to the severe weather we have had lately.
