Bittern @ Llandinam

1 found on the main road by the coal yard in Llandinam on Thursday 30th December, the Bittern being very malnourished (weighed around 500gr, whereas normally they weigh around double that!) was taken that night by Iolo and myself to Caun House Wildlife Rescue - Much Wenlock, where it was given fluid and a warm place to stay and be cared for.

Iolo informed me today that it is doing well but was still a long way from full recovery.

Should it make a full recovery, the plan is to release it somewhere nearby in the county where it can fend for itself naturally in the wild.

Any further news on the Bittern's state of health will be posted on here.

  1. Poor wee bugger - at least found and taken where it can hopefully be restored to good health - a great job by yourself/Iolo so here's hoping this story has a happy ending in a new home in a nice large, dense and unfrozen reed bed.
