Bittern seen, by others, this morning in front of pine tree hide then flying to pool at the rear - no sign later in day. Water rail gave good views in narrow channel in front of pine tree hide. Nice to see good numbers of brambling are still on the reserve (circa 80 seen) also 1 yellowhammer, 1 reed bunting and 2 siskin. Raptors showing were 2 peregrine, 1 sparrowhawk, 2 kestrel and 8 buzzard. On the river were 8 goosander (including 3 smart males), 50 wigeon and small number of teal.
