Little Ringed Plover

On Sunday, I headed to a stretch of the river Severn where I knew that Little ringed Plovers had bred in the past! Normally around this time of year a handful males will have already arrived and set up their territories, but with the cold weather we've been having I wasn't sure if there would be any there yet!? So I was very pleased when this chap showed on the shingle in front of me. Lets hope they have a better breeding season than last year, as on this stretch in 2012 it was a complete washout!!

Other birds of note included 1 Redshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, 3 Snipe, 4 Oystercatchers and 20+ Teal.
