More BHGs, Cinnamon twist?




After Mark's photos of the very successful Black-Headed Gull breeding success at L. Cyd, and my comment about the huge variety of fledgling plumage, I thought this youngster worthy of comment. Perhaps a geneticist seeing this can tell me what is going on here. The back is, as Ken and I observed, the colour of a Barn Owl, but there is black and white pigment in the tail. If this were a canary, would the cinnamon gene be suggested?

    If I saw this in a badger it would be leucism. Tammy
