Pwll Penarth

First visit for a long time. What a completely run down mess the reserve appears now. First Chiffchaff heard and seen, likewise Cettis Warbler heard and seen. 5 Bullfinch, 2 Reed Buntings 2 Little Grebe. No sign of Kingfisher or Dipper around the Weir.

  1. Smart-shame about the reserve.

  2. Meurig, that comment seems a little unfair, since there has been a lockdown for most of the last few months, and MWT have only just begun to have small volunteer parties operating again. We are struggling with very few resources to tackle a number of pressing jobs at all the MWT reserves.

  3. I would echo Simon's point, and note that the volunteers plan to work on the reserve both this week and next. We would always welcome extra volunteers, as it's a huge task to keep all the 'plates spinning'.
Glad to hear the Cetti's is still about.

  4. Yes very unfair given the current situation - also not sure how driving to and visiting a reserve accords with the current 'stay at home' guidance
