Affects of the Weather

Hopefully this is the last day of the bleak weather, as the area of open water at Llyn Coed-y-Dinas has got less each day for the last week, until this morning the scene is as above. Teal numbers peaked at 250 early in the week, but are about 100 less this morning. 5 Lapwing are looking very dejected, and the Tufted Duck have only shallow water.

With berries in short supply, I know of 4 small orchards supporting flocks of 20+ Blackbird, and in the Welshpool Berriew Street car park a few Redwing have joined them, and are easily observed from the warmth of the car.

4 Yellow Hammer were a welcome surprise on my walk on the top of Red Bank this morning.
