Roundton Hill bird walk.... and Cuckoo and Swift news

On a happier note than the previous post, thanks to Lottie Glover for this information:

Leo Smith is running a bird walk with Camlad Valley Community Wildlife Group with support from MWT volunteer warden Simon Quin on Sunday 14th May at 10am, finishing around 1pm. Peregrines and Red Kites nest nearby, and are frequently seen, while Redstart and Pied Flycatcher nest on the reserve. Buzzard, Red Kite, Kestrel, Green Woodpecker, Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Stonechat, Wheatear, Blackcap and other warblers, and Raven, are also likely to be seen or heard. Meet at Roundton Hill Car Park (SO293947) at 10am. The reserve is rather rough terrain, so wear suitable footwear, and wind/waterproof clothing. Bring binoculars if you have them. Keep an eye on the website in case the weather is bad and it gets cancelled www.ShropsCWGs.org.uk. For more info, visit the website.

Lottie has also provided me with the first records of these iconic summer visitors:

Cuckoo    Dolanog Hill, 23 April

Swift        Welshpool, 29 April

Do let me know if anyone has earlier records: I keep a note of migrants' first and latest records! Email montbird@gmail.com or text 07708-328987.
