Many thanks to Lionel Weaver who photographed this Black Redstart in his garden at Hendomen, near Montgomery, yesterday. Lionel writes, "the bird was feeding amongst the remains of the grapes etc/vines alongside 5 blackcaps, mistle thrushes and the usual others."
Black Redstarts turn up very occasionally in the county, usually at migration times or in winter. 5 Blackcaps is an interesting record too!
Another very good reason for leaving fruit, seeds etc on garden plants. How exciting, Lionel
