Burgess Croft

It must have something to do with frosty nights and sunny days, What's that?.  Starlings. don't get me wrong,  to look at one in the sunshine with that iridescant colouring sparkling is really enjoyable, But, As happened again this morning when they landed in the garden in such numbers that they overwhelmed everything. the feeders where emptied in quick order, there where so many suqabbling on the feeders that two where broken , and which they continued to fight over on the floor.I've mended the feeders (string) but not filling them till late afternoon. This evening just before dusk and drawing the bedroom curtains i saw in one of the taller shrubs at the bottom of the garden what i thought was our resident sparrows, but using the bino's noted that they were Reed Buntings 4m/7f more than twice as many as iv'e seen in the garden.  A brighter end to the day
