Llyn Mawr

The cormorants were putting in a good show this afternoon displaying their breeding white patches. The Canada's were making quite a racket too as were a dozen or so carrion crows. Some Tufties on the water as well as a pair of mallard and three or four snipe hiding in the juncus.

Near the water's edge on some dead rotting wood I stumbled across these - Velvet Shanks. This is one of the very few fungus species that is around throughout the winter, quite edible but I didn't try!.
