BURGESS CROFT

The cold weather over the last week has brought a lot of activity to the feeders. With first sightings of Linnets. a single Redpole on tuesday, several visits by Reed Buntings (all male), and this morning (Sun) the first sighting of a brambling (f).  Finch's have used the  feeders the most, with a good number of goldfinch's on the niger feeders, whilst greenfinch's have taken to black Sunflower seeds which i have this year put into some of the peanut feeders. Other species noted are :- Blackbirds, House Sparrows, Blue, Great, and Coal tits, Robin, Wren, Dunnock, Nuthatch, Chaffinch, Wood Pigeon, Collard Dove, Pied Wagtail, Magpie, although I have seen a large number of Starlings overflying , So far i hav'nt seen any on the feeders .

Just in case this is the last chance for me to Blog this year, May i Wish you all a happy Christmas, a Prosperous New Year. And Good Birding in 2012..

  1. Well done Kevin, I havn't seen any of the first selection of birds yet although just up the road from you.I have had a Starling though!

I will be able to spend more time looking at the feeders over the next few days as I have managed to crack a rib or two baby sitting!

I have just been introduced (via a christmas card) from a distant friend, to www.neilmclaren-birdphotography.co.uk. As you are possibly `laid up` you may have a moment to view this.
    Happy Christmas
Oh I did get a pair of new bins from a place up near Tregaron Bog.. They were a sensibly priced Opticron and fit for purpose. They were a model diiscontinued in November this year - thus a good price.
