LAPWINGS AND PLOVERS

Whilst out this afternoon saw large flock of what i thought were lapwings. they were sitting down in a field between Halfway House and Westbury on the B4387,After stopping and using the Bin's saw that a large number were Golden Plovers. The total number of birds at a guess might easily been between 600 & 700 there may evan have been more. But on a nasty winding part of the road with a lot of traffic, it seemed wiser to drive on. this area seems to be a good location this year for these birds, for in the space of a few days this is second large flock that i've seen ( Re,  blog of Polemere on the 1st )although those sighted at Polemere were all Lapwings
