Pwll Penarth

Highlights today included; 4 snipe to right of first hide, reed bunting and redpoll feeding on seeds of old man's beard, 3 little grebe, bullfinch, long tailed tit and displaying teal all in front of first hide. Female blackcap feeding on large black colour berries outside hide and a handful of fieldfare. Leaving the hide this evening disturbed 50+ birds from surrounding trees, which as far as I could make out were all magpies.... does anyone one know of magpies roosting in large numbers here or anywhere else?

  1. I have seen 30+ before now roosting in the trees around the sewage works. The only other place I've seen a roost like this in monts is in the trees before the 1st hide at dolydd hafren where there are usually 40+ throughout the winter!!
