It's Bean a Mealy Great day......

Sorry for the lame pun, but what a days birding with Marc Hughs and all in Monts too!

The main highlights were 3 Bean Geese with a flock of Greylags at Dolydd Hafren (I believe a county 1st!)

At least 2 Mealy Redpolls with a small flock af Lessers at the Flash in Welshpool.


(not the best of photos, but I've uploaded a Lesser taken today for a comparison)


And the long staying Great Grey Shrike at Hafren Forest!



Other notable birds today included:

1 Marsh Tit and 2 Peregrines

4 Green Sandpipers, 1 Little Egret, 1 Woodcock, 1+ Brambling, 1 Peregrine (via Iolo) and 1 Great Black-backed Gull.

Been up on the Solway for past couple of days so will check out dolydd when back - highlights for me are great White egret, common scoter, a very friendly set of turnstone and something over 3000 curlew at close quarters - and the geese of course! Will stick a couple of pics on blog when get back
