A new year and a new county recorder

Firstly, I would just like to take the opportunity to thank Brayton for our county bird recorder for the past twenty something year. I'm sure at times I can't have been easy (as I will no doubt be finding out!), but with out his dedication there would probably be no 'archive' of bird sightings for Montgomeryshire for the last 3 decades!

For those if you who aren't aware, as of today (01/01/12) I will be your new county bird recorder! Admitidly I am a little unorganised at the moment, but hope to get acquainted with all you (the ones that don't know me that is) monty birders soon as I can. I will be setting up some new contact details, but for the time being please send any sighting to what ever contact details you have for me (or to Brayton if that is still easier) and I will make sure they get put on to the data base.

Happy birding
Paul

  1. Well done Paul, we look forward to sending you our bird records. How would you like these to be sent and what records do you require ie only send you rarities, large numbers of birds seen at one time for example. Will a note on this Blog be adequate? Do you require at least two sightings by different people or photographic evidence?
Again congratulations, and I am sure you will be a credit to the post!

  4. For many years now i have kept notes of sightings in the garden at Burgess Croft. and others that i've seen whilst on my travels. and know the length of time it takes to keep them updated and readable!!. So for Brayton to have performed this task for the county for the lenght of time that he has deserves our deepest thanks.
Paul, Best of luck in the position of County Recorder. I'am sure you'll take to it (should i say !!) Like a duck to water..
