Out and about

Spent just over a hour at Dolydd all the usual about and 2 White-fronted Geese,
From there over to Coed y Dinas everything is still there that has been posted recently did not stay for long as the 300+ gulls are enough to drive you mad
Then over to Pwll Penarth could only see 2 Little Grebes, lots of Reed Bunting but no tidy photo's. The Dippers are still busy nest building and visiting the nest every 10 minutes or so, well worth a couple of hours here for some nice photo's
Walking down the river in Newtown this afternoon hoping for some Otters for the new blog but the best photo of the afternoon was taken by my daughter Lucy of a Female Goosander

  1. Lucy's dipper picture looked better as well!!! Nearly 3 hours in the hide on the beach waiting for the dipper - not one bird anywhere! Aaaargh!

  2. Sounds like a good day to me Phil.Never been to Pwll Penarth, perhaps some nice person would give me guidance on how to see the Dippers, I know they are near a weir but thats about it.

  3. Not a problem Brian, go to Llanllwchaiarn and where you turn for the church you will see a sign for the nature reserve, take that turning and follow the lane until you reach the sewer works and park there. as your looking at the sewer works you need to take the path to your left stay on that path until you come to the gate for the reserve on your right hand side. Follow the track (its a bit muddy at the moment) to the second hide you will hear the weir from there, if your down there tomorrow you will probably see Mark or myself.

  4. Erm - part of the condition of entry Brian is that you need to be able to pronounce Llanllwchaiarn!! Oh damn I can't either so let's forget that!
