Took up Mark's invitation to be shown around Pwll Penarth after an hour or so trying for the Dipper, which showed up a little upstream. The lighting was very poor and so were most of my shots, must have been the excitement. This was my first time at the reserve and I wasn't disappointed, thanks Mark for giving up your time.On the way home the sun was shining over Coed-y-dinas, so had five minutes there. The Little Grebe was right at the back on the right hand side but looked fine in the afternoon sun. The Snipe were no showing and nor was the Pochard.
As discussed that looks like a very well used rock so may be worth thinking about hunkering down closer on the bank under a camo-tarp or similar! Pleased we saw one of the birds even if only a short viewing!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it Brian not the best reserve in the area but not the worst either. Good shot to.
ReplyDeleteI reckon that it has great potential Phil, lots of different habitat. The sign posting to the site could be better after the one at the main road, and the parking is terrible!
