Med. Gull - L. CyD



MWT ran a "Beginners' Birding Session" at L. CyD today. A first summer Med. Gull was showing some attitude on the large island, where there were only 2 visible BHG chicks - both near to flying. Many nests were lost to the high water in April/May but it is a surprise that more did not survive. Others were still carrying nesting material. The grebe pair are prospecting a nest site, as they too probably failed first time, and were close to the hide. Fascinating underwater image from the left hide window. Reed warblers busy, and also a female grass snake in front of the hide.

    Well that Med Gull was a darned good spot - the past couple of times have been down had been scanning the island for something different (common/med/little) with no success so nice one
